The Critical Mixed Race Studies Association Executive Board is excited to share that we are returning to our midwestern roots for our 9th installation of the CMRS Conference. We chose Minneapolis for its vibrant cultural landscape, inspiring local leadership of Board President Alissa Paris and former Caucus Coordinator Dr. Aeriel Ashlee, and our strategic partners at MidWest Mosaic.

Why Minneapolis? 

Our commitment to this location is rooted in a desire to center and uplift local mixed-race communities. Minneapolis has been a site of profound social transformation and resilience, where communities have organized, created, and reimagined more just futures in response to enduring racial inequities. Hosting our conference here allows us to connect our scholarship with the lived experiences, creative practices, and community leadership that continue to shape conversations about race, belonging, and justice—reflecting the Critical Mixed Race Studies Association’s commitment to advancing scholarship, the arts, activism, and community-engaged dialogue.
